In Honor of AAPI Month, NU Media is reminiscing on the past three months of work we’ve done with the help of USPPAC/SBA. Assisting new clients with expanding their reach, we look forward to all we can do to lift and help AAPI businesses and voices! In October 2021, the USPAACC was awarded a Tier 1 grant from SBA Community Navigator Pilot Program! NU Media was chosen as a Community Navigator to help small and medium-sized AAPI businesses (SMBs). The grant aims to connect underserved Pan Asian American businesses with vital services and assistance programs such as Digital marketing. For the past three months, that’s precisely what NU Media has accomplished!
But first, a little history!
AAPI Month, originally AAPI Week was enacted in 1978 to celebrate Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States! It didn’t become AAPI Month until a little over
14 years later, in 1992! AAPI Month is celebrated by over 5 million Asian Americans in the U.S! It’s a time to celebrate AAPI heritage and commemorate all of their contributions to this country’s history! Fun fact: Did you know, according to the US Census, 1 in 10 small businesses are operated by someone in the AAPI community!
The USPAACC (the United States Pan Asian American Chambers of Commerce Education Foundation) is a non-profit organization founded in 1984 that represents many groups in the sports, Business, Entertainment fields, and more. Founded with the mission to help Asian American businesses flourish and grow, the USPAACC is their voice and champion on a federal level.
With the USPAACC’s help, NU Media has been able to help over 50 Asian American-owned businesses all over the country with no extra cost to them with marketing services ranging from social media, Public Relations, and consultation services! It has been an honor to bring these businesses, from cosmetics, skincare, and restaurants, to the public eye and help them flourish in this new post covid market. We look forward to helping many more realize their true potential!
